N101KA Kinner Kin-Air

The "Kin-Air" was a specially designed and built airplane by Win Kinner. It first raced at the Reno National Air Races in 1974. Unfortunately, the aircraft encountered turbulence on take off during a race in 1976 and was heavily damaged. Fortunately, pilot Win Kinner survived the accident with minor injuries.

  1. Win Kinner was uncle. If I remember correctly he spent about 15 years building this plane. The first time he fired it for ground testing it was too close to the hangar and the torque turned the plane so quickly that substantial damage to the tail. This was the second race at Reno for Win. Glad he was not hurt badly.
